Chemical and enzymatic modifications of components of nucleic acids and biochemical modeling as a scientifically-practical basis of search, creation and manufacture of anti-virus and antineoplastic medical products. pp. 32-57

Summary: The overview is devoted to scientific and practical works of authors in the field of chemical and enzymatic synthesis and studying of biological properties and stereochemistry, finding-out of dependence between stereochemistry and chemical and biological properties of new sugars, nucleosides, nucleotides, (2', 5')oligoadenylates and conjugates of nucleoside with phospholipids. The long-term investigations in the area of the chemistry of conjugates of nucleoside have led to the creation in Belarus of the industrial production of various modern medical products for the treatment of a blood cancer, AIDS, other virus diseases. As a result of achievements the authors’ team including Kalinichenko E.N., Litvinko N.M., Mikhailopulo I.A., Zaitseva G.V., Zinchenko A.I., Petrov P.T. has been awarded with the State Premium of Republic of Belarus in the field of a Science and Technics (2004). Some of investigations fulfilled within the frame of this cycle have been supported by the Belarusian Republican Foundation of Fundamental Research.

Efficiency of glucose oxidase Penicillium funiculosum 46.1 and horseradish peroxidase polymeric products at determination of glucose concentration by method of "dry" chemistry. pp. 71-77

Summary: The efficiency of enzyme pairs including of glucose oxidase (GO) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP), GO and polymeric products of HRP (ppHRP), copolymer of polyglobular forms of GO with HRP (ppGO-HRP) at determination of the glucose concentrations by the method of "dry" chemistry is compared. The conditions of measurement of the enzyme pair activity on a paper of the mark "Filtrak" (paper F) and "Schleicher and Schuell" (paper S) are optimized. All enzyme pairs can be used for determination of the glucose concentration by the method of "dry" chemistry. However on the paper S the stains have more intensive and uniform colouring. The enzyme pairs on intensity of colouring stains the paper S display a line: ppGO-HRP = GO + HRP > GO + ppHRP and in case of the paper F, modified by zinc hydroxide gel, GO + HRP > ppGO-HRP = GO + ppHRP.

Eduction and Spectroscopic Determination of Rare Earths in Apatite Concentrate and Adducts of its Processing. pp. 78-90

Summary: The features of allocation of rare earths (RE) from phosphogypsum are reviewed, where they are in the form hard-to-reach for extraction. For allocation of RE it is offered to use processes of a complexing with strong reactants such as Trilonum B. It is established that in blades of production of phosphatic fertilizers on the Gomel Chemical Plant (phosphogypsum) are dominated rather cheap RE - lanthanum, cerium, neodymium and praseodymium, whereas the contents remaining RE is lower than a threshold of their detection. It is shown that the most effective method of a qualitative analysis of the contents RE in natural objects is the X-ray fluorescent spectroscopy, and the best accuracy of their quantitative determination is reached by methods of an absorbing electronic spectroscopy in a visible range of a spectrum.

Radiation and bending loss in multi-core microstructure fibers. pp. 91-98

Summary: The guiding properties of two-core microstructure fibers (MF) are considered. The interaction of the modes propagating in different cores in dependence on fiber structure, cores separation and radius of the fiber bend are analyzed. It is shown, that in straight MF two identical modes propagate in both core with different velocities. In curved MF the power of one of the modes is concentrated mostly in the core which is internal considering the bend, while the other one propagates mostly in the external core. The bend enhancement results in increasing the ratio of mode amplitudes in both cores and the difference between mode velocities. This feature can be used in fiber bend sensors. Radiation loss in MF depends on fiber size, air hole dimension d, holes separation L and wavelength of propagating radiation. Microstructure fibers with d/L ³ 0.25 practically are not exposed by the confinement and bend radiation loss. MF with d/L £ 0.2 are exposed by substantial radiation loss.

Synthesis of 8-(2-chlorobenzoyloxy)quinoline with a series of carboxilyc-, organic sulfo- and phenylarsenicic acids. pp. 99-101

Summary: 8-(2-Chlorobenzoyloxy)quinoline was synthesized by reaction of 8-hydroxyquinoline with 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride in the presence of pyridine. The correspounding salts of 8-(2-chlorobenzoyloxy)quinoline were obtained with a series of aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic carboxilyc acids, organic sulfoacids and phenylarsenicic acid.

Enzyme activity of polyclonal immunoglobulin G fractions. pp. 102-119

Summary: It was discovered to the date that natural abzymes catalyze different types of biochemical reactions (proteolysis, hydrolysis of nucleic acids and polysaccharides, etc.) in vitro and vivo. Then it was shown that polyclonal abzymes appeared to be the promising alternative to monoclonal catalytic antibodies. Hence, the chromatographic behavior of polyclonal human IgG with catalytic (abzyme) activity, fractionated at various ion-exchange resins, was investigated in the work. It was determined that IgG preparations reveal marked heterogeneity during chromatography. For some IgG preparations ion-exchange chromatography made possible to enhance substantially the catalytic activity of abzyme fractions. In addition, abzyme activity was shown to elevate in emergency of autoimmune pathology. Strong relationships exist between abzyme activity, clinical symptoms and laboratory findings in various diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroiditis, infectious diseases, etc.) The possible new directions of clinical abzymology are discussed.

Materials for the chronological reference book "The activity of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research. 1991-2006". pp. 136-147

Summary: Topicality of chronological research for the development of history of science and the completion of institutionalization of scientific organizations and disciplines is shown in the article. Existing types of chronological reference books are described. Major obstacles faced by compilers of chronological reference books are analyzed. Criteria for selection of materials for the chronological reference book about the activity of the BRFFR and order of their presentation in the reference book are characterized. The processed materials (about 60 facts and events about the activity of the BRFFR) for the future chronological reference book are enclosed.
