Transplantation of autologuos bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells to patient with HCV cirrhosis. pp. 5--13.
Summary: The first experience of transplantation of autologuos bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells to the liver tissue of patient with HCV cirrhosis is described. The method of getting autologuos bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells transplanted in the intraparenchimal way under ultrasound control is proposed. According to light microscopy after six-month morphological treatment, dynamics of the pathological process has demonstrated the absence of changes in the liver tissue. However, significant positive changes have been detected using immunohistochemical methods and electron microscopy which characterize the activation of fibrolysis and intracellular regeneration processes.

Immunophenotype of plasmacytoid dendritic cells derived from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. pp. 14--19.
Summary: The aim of the current investigation was to assess the expression of costimulatory and adhesive molecules on plasmacy-toid dendritic cells (pDC) derived from the blood of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The decrease of the absolute pDC count in the blood of patients with SLE was shown, supposing the accelerated migration of pDC into peripheral and lymphoid tissues. pDC from SLE patients were characterized by an increased expression of CD86 and CD54, therefore capable of maintaining the immunoinflammation. No differences in pDC count and immunophenotype between patients with SLE and patients with SLE and lupus nephritis were observed. Further investigations of gene expression by pDC derived from the both groups of patients using DNA-microarray are required to estimate its role in the immunopathogenesis of SLE and lupus nephritis.

Participation of urea and liver arginase in the thermoregulation processes during endotoxin fever. pp. 20--24.
Summary: Dynamics of heat exchange processes during endotoxin fever in rats and rabbits and their staging depends on the liver arginase activity, the L-arginine-NO-system state and the blood urea level that determine their direction and intensity. Apparently, the L-arginine participation in the urea cycle and its active use in the urea formation processes during endotoxinemia play a significant role in the mechanisms of regulation of the L-arginine-NO-system activity, thermoregulation and endogenic antipyresis.

Methodology of creating arterial vessels elastici-ty indices. pp. 25--31.
Summary: A general methodology of creating elasticity indices of arterial vessels has been worked out, which enables the specificity of vessel wall distensibility coefficients of various groups of patients to be taken into account as much as possible. Based on this methodology a new elasticity index of arteries of elderly persons has been obtained. This index possesses high reliability (independence on arterial pressure) at arterial hypertension. Moreover, it is revealed that under given particular conditions this methodology leads to the majority of the known parameters widely used when assessing the elasticity of arterial vessels.

Efficacy and safety of stem cell transplantation in the model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. pp. 38--45.
Summary: We have compared the efficacy and the safety of various protocols of mesenchymal (MCS) and haematopoietic (HSC) stem cells in the model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Our results show that the use of the examined protocols is effective in the EAE treatment. But the use of MSC and HSC co-transplantation after high-dose immunosuppression demonstrates the lowest morbidity and mortality rate and ameliorates the clinical course of EAE at the earliest disease stage.

Analysis of the electroencephalograms under the effect of mobile phone radiation and protection screens using the dynamic chaos. pp. 57--65.
Summary: It is proposed to study the clinical electroencephalograms, subjected to the effect of mobile phone radiation and in uenced by protection screens based on radiation absorbing materials, with the use of the nonlinear dynamics methods. The clinical electroencephalograms recorded for healthy volunteers were processed and analyzed using the specially developed information-measuring system. The performed analysis of electroencephalograms shows that the structural changes in signals are different for GSM--system mobile phones operated in the regimes "phone -- no reply"; "phone -- reply", and also with the use of protection screens between the mobile phone and human ear. The employment of nonlinear methods considering bioelectric signals of the brain as a deterministic chaos enables one to realize the construction of phase portraits and to introduce such informative parameters as the correlation dimension d and Kolmogorov entropy E, making it possible to determine the influence of screens protecting against the electromagnetic radiation.

Role of factors of prooxidant-antioxidant systems of blood and amniotic fluid in pregnant women in pathogenesis of development of chronic fetoplacental insufficiency. pp. 66--71.
Summary: Parameters of antioxidant and prooxidant activity in 109 pregnant women with chronic fetoplacental insufficiency and 33 pregnant women without thigh complication of pregnancy are investigated. Contrary changes in the total antioxidant activity (TAOA) are established: TAOA decrease of amniotic fluid and TAOA increase of maternal blood with fetal growth retardation. In pregnant women with fetoplacental insufficiency after 37 week gestation, the fermentative link activity of anti-oxidant protection of superoxide dismutase is suppressed and the malondialdehyde level increases.

Effect of N-acetylcystein on the functional activity and metabolism of reactive species in alveolar macrophages exposed to cigarette smoke. pp. 72--79.
Summary: We studied the effect of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (N--AC) on the phagocytic activity, the generation of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, and the enzymatic antioxidant activity in the alveolar macrophages (AMs) exposed to cigarette smoke extract (CSE). AMs were isolated from bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of rats. AMs were preincubated with N-AC (0.01 mM), after this the cells were exposed to CSE during 1 and 20 h. The protective effect of N--AC was found. It was established that N-acetyl-L-cysteine prevented the reduction of SH-compounds and the reduction of the activity of anti-oxidant enzymes in the AM after short-term (1 h) incubation with CSE, but N--AC did not prevent the reduction of SH-compounds and the decrease in the activity of superoxid dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase that took place after long--term (24 h) cell incubation with CSE. However, the degree of this reduction was less expressed in the presence of N--AC.

Thyroxine effect on thyrocyte proliferation after subtotal strumectomy of rat thyroid gland. pp. 80--87.
Summary: It was shown that the state of thyrocyte hypofunction induced in vivo by 14--day L--thyroxine administration significantly increased the percentage of binucleate cells in the whole thyroid gland as compared to the group of animals subjected to subtotal strumectomy. According to the genetic trigger model describing the reciprocal relationships between proliferation differentiation operons, the development of the hypofunction cellular state will activate cell division processes. This may also be related to the above state. A permissive role of insulin and the STG/IGF axis in the above effects is discussed.

Melatonin effects on hypoxia--induced changes of the serotonin content in the brain of rats with different pattern behavior. pp. 88--93.
Summary: In experiments on rats it has been shown that the pretreatment with melatonin (introperitoneal, 0.5 mg/kg/day, 3 days) enhanced the locomotor activity under acute hypoxia more than under control. The dependence of the melatonin effects on hypoxia-induced responses of brain serotoninergic structures to acute hypoxia caused by the behavior pattern of animals in the unknown situation was also found. Melatonin enhanced the degree of increase in the hypoxia-induced serotonin level more significantly in the cerebellum and amygdale of rats with the low locomotor activity than in control rats and in rats with the high locomotor activity.

Suppressive therapy influence on biochemical blood indices of overweight patients operated on account of thyroid gland carcinoma. pp. 94--99.
Summary: The biochemical status of overweight patients (19--40 years old) operated on account of differentiated thyroid gland carcinoma is examined. It is shown that the overweight patients (BBI > 25 kg/m2) have a diversity of unfavorable deviations as compared to normal weight and control group patients. The analysis of the metabolic status depending on the efficacy of thyroxin suppressive therapy has shown that overweight patients have really higher levels of glucose, cholesterin, cholesterin of low-density lipoproteins and atherogenity both at suppression and at the normal THS level. In the case of overweight, the level of cholesterin of high--density lipoproteins in patients with THS suppression is really lower than that in normal weight patients.

Role of platelets in pathogenesis of metastases and tumour growth. pp. 100--106.
Summary: In the process of hematogenous metastasizing, tumour cells migrate along blood vessels and interact with platelets. The result of this interaction is the tumour -- cell induced platelet aggregation (TCIPA) that plays an important role in the pathogenesis of tumour cell dissemination. The article reviews the biological and clinical significance of TCIPA, possible molecular mechanisms of triggering platelets aggregation under the influence of tumour cells, and pharmacologic regulation of this process.

Epidemiology and methods of diagnosis of fungal infection. pp. 115--121.
Summary: The review of the literature has shown an increasing incidence and spread of invasive candidiasis and candidemia in intensive care unit patients. The fungal infections in this population are associated with high mortality rate. Early diagnosis of mycosis is a real way to improve the results of treatment. The review evaluates laboratory, microbiological and histological diagnostic methods usable in clinical practice. Conclusion: neither of these tests in a single use may be sufficient or specific enough for proven diagnosis. Only parallel use of different diagnostic methods makes possible early diagnosis of invasive mycosis and candidemia and allows early start of adequate antifungal treatment.
