Study of anthropometric and orthopedic attributes of an amputation-stamp atrophy of the shin with the use of factor analysis. pp. 31--35
Summary: Paired correlations between twelve anthropometric and orthopedic attributes concerned with the features of an amputation-stamp atrophy of the shin were investigated with the use of the factor analysis in the principal component method. Three factors are revealed which taken together describe 85% of total multidimensional initial statistical information.
Resulting generalization of the carried out factor analysis in the context of description of an amputation-stamp atrophy of the shin specifies the priority of circumference parameters in comparison with parameters of length.
The general statistical validity of the correlations between twelve anthropometric and orthopedic attributes gives a basis for confidence of competency for earlier deduced empirical formulas of definition of an index of an amputation-stamp atrophy of the shin.

Effect of various kinds of alcohol intoxication on the state of the antioxidative system of the liver. pp. 36--40
Summary: Alcohol administration can result in liver damage. Reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide and their interaction are a crucial factor in this process. The first aim of the work was to investigate the free radical state under chronic and interrupted alcohol intake, and the second aim was to study the effect of L-arginine injection on free radical homeostasis under interrupted alcohol intake.
Experiments were performed on male Wistar rats (180 g). Four groups of animals (n=8) were used. Ethanol was administered in a dose of 3.5 g/kg (a 25% solution) intragastrically two times a day according to the schedule: I group of animals, every day during 42 days; II group, ethanol was injected during 7 days and 7 days of withdrawal during 42 days and III group, ethanol was injected the same way as in II group, but during withdrawal periods L-arginine was administrated (500 ng/kg, intragastrically, one time a day).
It was shown that both the chronic and interrupted alcohol intakes caused the disbalance in free radicals production and utilization and signs of oxidative stress. But under interrupted ethanol consumption some adaptation to damaging agents was shown.
Signs of oxidative stress was eliminated by L-arginine administration.

Modulation of the sympathetic efferent fibres activity by Escherichia coli ly-popolysaccharide in experimental colitis conditions. pp. 41--45
Summary: In acute experiments on thiopental-anesthetized rats (70 mg/kg, intraperitoneally), it was found that the infusion of 10 µg of LPS E. coli to the colonic lumen control rats inhibited the efferent sympathetic activity of the colonic nerves. In comparision with control rats, it was observed that LPS evoked stimulating reactions of the efferent sympathetic fibres at the early phases (4--5 days) of the experimental colitis development, but at the late phases (8--10 days) of the LPS-evoked inflammatory process inhibiting the reactions of the sympathetic efferent fibres of the colonic nerves.

Influence of low-intensity laser radiation on the ultrastructure of cortex cerebri, the state of hydroion balance and lipid peroxidation in cerebral ischemia. pp. 46--50
Summary: The ultrastructure of neurons in the parietal area of the cerebral cortex, the state of lipid peroxidation and hydroion balance in the body were investigated on the 5th day after local cerebral ischemia induction in rabbits subjected to intravenous laser irradiation of blood (ILIB) with an infrared (IR) laser (wavelength of 0.86 µm, output power of 2 mW).
ILIB with the IR laser in the postischemic period was found to cause the dehydration of cerebral structures, normalization of the level of thiobarbituric acid products, the reactivation of glutathione peroxidase, the stimulation of neuron regeneration processes. The effects established belong to the most important mechanisms of the low-intensity laser radiation activity facilitating the maintenance of the biomembrane structure and function, initiating cellular regeneration processes in the CNS in the postischemic period.

Nitroprusside increases the velocity of platelet disaggregation in vitro in the pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus and type I diabetes mellitus. pp. 51--55
Summary: Platelet disaggregation in the pregnant women with GDM and Type I DM and its dependence on intracellular levels of cAMP and cGMP was studied. The results of the present study are give evidence of increases in velocities of NP-induced platelet disaggregation in vitro in the pregnant women with GDM and Type I DM, as compared with the control group of pregnant healthy women. It is assumed that the NP-induced platelet disaggregation in the test groups of the donors is not associated with cGMP-signalling systems and under the activity of ADP less stable platelet aggregates are formed than in the control group.

Effects of sodium nitrate on morphological and functional characteristics of the rat colon activity. pp. 56--62
Summary: In acute experiments on 41 anesthetized rats it was shown that the infusion of hydrogen peroxide solution into the colon evoked the phase changes of the afferent and efferent activity of fibers of the abdominoaortal nerve, whereas the infusion of sodium nitrate into the same part of the intestine induced the increase of a firing rate in both afferent and efferent conductors in the studied nerve. Morphological changes in the colon tissue were shown using electronic microscopy techniques.

Remote results of neoadjuvant polychemotherapy in invasive cancer of urinary bladder. pp. 63--68
Summary: Prospective randomized tests were conducted to assess the effectiveness of neoajuvant M-VAC chemotherapy combined with Roncoleukin (interleukin-2) intravesical immunotherapy after the transurethral resection of invasive bladder cancer, as compared only to M-VAC. There were 60 patients entered on the investigation protocol. Immediate and long-term results of this new treatment scheme were better than those of standard M-VAC combination chemotherapy. A complete response rate was 53.3± 9.1 and 26.7± 8.1%, respectively (P< 0.05). Bladder-sparing surgery was performed in 16 (53.3± 9.1%) patients in the control group and in 23 (76.7± 7.7%) in the treatment group (P = 0.03). A cumulative survival rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than in the control group (PLog-Rank = 0.032). A total 4-year survival rate was 80.0± 7.9 and 65.0± 11.2%, respectively.

First trimester prenatal echocardiography. pp. 75--79
Summary: Three first trimester cases of major heart malformations have been presented: atrioventricular septal defect, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, common arterial trunk. Ultrasound screening by nuchal translucency during 11--14 weeks is the main reason for early echocardiography. In the case of common arterial trunk the translocation form of the Patau syndrome has been detected. In two other cases (atrioventricular septal defect, hypoplastic left heart syndrome) fetal karyotypes were normal. All the families choose the option of pregnancy termination. Prenatal diagnoses have been verified by autopsy.

Analysis of external respiration of patients suffered from spine osteochondrosis. pp. 80--83
Summary: The conducted researches have revealed that patients with neurological spine osteochondrosis manifestations and also patients with acute bronchitis and neurological thorax osteochondrosis had reduced external respiration indices. The main complaint of the half of the patients was the shortness of breath even in the case of the minimal physical activity. The role of spine osteochondrosis in the shortness of the breath mechanism development was shown. It was revealed that manual therapy methods, when applied in patient treatment, had improved external respiration indices and removed the dyspnie feeling.

SMN genes in patients with muscular hypotonia. pp. 84--88
Summary: We have performed the deletion analysis of the SMN genes in 9 patients with several diseases characterized by muscular hypotonia, in 11 asymptomatic parents and 1 sibs. The SMNc gene was deleted for both exons 7 and 8 in one parent of child with clinical diagnosis of muscular dystrophy and in sibs of a patient with Oppenheim's myatonia. Earlier, we had found such deletions in 1 fetus with exencephaly, 3 unaffected parents of SMA patients from 3 families and in 1 SMA type I patient, who belong to one of these families (clinical diagnosis of myodystrophy was also not excluded in this patient). Preliminary data on this study suggest that a quantitative dysbalance of SMN genes may contribute to the genesis of the disease not only in SMA families, but also in other ones with neuromuscular disorders by the unknown mechanism.

Motor and vestibulomotor effects of microgravitation induced by water immersion. pp. 93--109
Summary: The state of control systems of vestibular and vestibulomotor reactions of healthy person were studied in the conditions of model microgravitation (MM) induced by 2-day water immersion. These reactions were investigated from the correction EMG and EOG responses in tests of keeping up a vertical posture in free stand, in tests of Romberg's complicated posture, in tests of walking on a different - rigidity track. During MM, study was made of the EMG activity of crus muscles when performing arbitrary movements, and also of the vertibular apparatus function when fixing eyes. It is shown that a start of MM motor disorders is a reduction of the reaction from a support and the vestibular entrance sensitivity induced by this increase. The latter causes the change in normal vestibulomotor interaction is accompanied by adaptive rearrangement of the mechanism of cerebellum control of movements, standing reflex, posture regulation.
