Eastern European experience of collective identity: historical lessons and European integration. pp. 5--10

Summary: Methodological aspects of the intellectual history reconstruction in the region of Grand Duchy of Lithuania are considered in the paper. Inadmissibility of modernizing resymbolizations of the common cultural heritage of legatee nations (Belarusian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Polish) to satisfy contemporary ideological needs of national states is emphasized. The particular historical experience significance for searching ways to smooth over contradictions in the process of the European integration is pointed out.

Modernity of classic: refreshment of the "Social agreement". pp. 11--17

Summary: The problem considered in the article is the interaction between the authorities and society in Belarus. The notion of the "social agreement)) formulated by Th. Hobbes is critically considered. The juridical aspect of the nation is complemented with the cultural one. In connection with this the proposal is given to consider nation-state as the organic structure. It is based upon the Kant's thesis. Moreover the political power is called "the symbolic power" or the power to create the social reality with help of words. It is pointed there that messages sending by the power are obligatory interpreted by receivers of them (by citizens).

Drug consumption among the youth: sociological analysis. pp. 18--24

Summary: The article deals with the study of the basic determinants (factors, causes and conditions) of youth's drug consumption. Modes of counteraction and preventive methods of social and legal activity are analyzed. Receiving in summer of 2004 sociological data of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences have become the empirical basis of research.

The road transport hijack object's ascertainment: controversial points. pp. 25--32

Summary: The questions concerned with the determination of the road transport hijack objects are touched upon in the paper. The attempt to analyze main ways of this problem solution was made here. The author concludes that only property relations are the objects of the road transport hijack. Public relations in the sphere of safe functioning of the transport only could be the object of the legal protection if the pointed in the law consequences come.

Summary: It is shown that the problem of creation of highly skilled specialists at the Belarusian Steel Works is being solved due to complex of measures integrated into the system approach to the progressive development of human resources. That is one of ways to the technical and financial stability of plant.

World energy market and energy safety. pp. 44--46

Summary: Government regulation of the energy market in different countries is viewed in the article. World reserves of hydrocarbons and probable volumes of the oil and gas consumption as the main indicators of energy market development and global energy safety ensuring are analyzed. Promotional measures to energy safety consolidation and increasing the growth of transnational investment activity of power companies have been proposed in the field of oil and gas resources exploring and mining and diversification of inter-countries oil and gas deliveries. Also these measures could be useful for the more effective utilization of energy carriers which are scarce now.

Liquidity management methods influence on the Bank financial results. pp. 47--51

Summary: In the article liquidity management methods and their influence on the financial results of banking activity are being studied. The author proposes the methodology of estimation of specific correlation of quantitative characteristics of accumulated and purchased liquidity and determination of the cumulative bank need in resources. The aim of the proposed approach is to solve a problem of the banking profit maximization.

Emigration from Belarusian and Lithuanian lands into the West Europe in 1831--1863. pp. 52--61

Summary: In the article the author describes the activity of former insurgents abroad after the Insurrection of 1830-1831 defeat. He analyses an economical sources of insurgents and their quantity. Especial objects of research are organizations joining Be-larusian and Lithuanian emigrants in France. Attempts of emigrants to influence on social and political movement in the Motherland and process of their return to the Russian Empirei 1830--1860 are described in this work too.

Characteristic of collected documents of the Great Patriotic War period Belarusian history. pp. 62--69

Summary: Documentary sources on the history of Belarus in the period of the Great Patriotic War are investigated in the article. The analysis embraces such things as the level of publishing documentary collections at the every archeological stage of the studying source base and emphasizes peculiarities of this work. It is noticed that during 1940- early 2000 the interpretation of war historical documents was changed significantly. Last studies differed from the early ones by the wider using of new foreign and departmental archives.

Summary: The article devoted to the relevant research problem which is the determination by the historical comparative method for the system analysis of the military Belarusian history in context of the World II War in the modern Belarusian historiography.

ART STUDIES, ETHNOGRAPHY, FOLKLORE

Lavysh K. A.
Oriental motives in the art of aged-old cities of Belarus. pp. 78--86

Summary: The study of contacts of aged-old cities of Belarus with the Orient is of a great importance for comprehension of the full value of their artistic life. In this article the Orient is meant by the Middle East along with Iran, Central Asia, Volgian Bulgaria as well as Byzantium having in mind the stratum of it's artistic culture connected with oriental traditions. Motives of oriental origin are an important part of the ornamental fund of aged-old Russian art including the art of aged-old cities of Belarus. They could be divided in two parts: vegetative and zoomorphic ones. Vegetative motives include trefoil-shaped and heart-shaped forms, blossoming cross. Zoomorphic ones include twin figures of birds on sides of the Tree of Life, griffons, dragons, lions, ounces. It is necessary to note the considerable transformation of the adopted motives in the iconography and style.

Lithuanian ethnic group of the Republic of Belarus: historiography. pp. 87--96

Summary: The article analyzes the current situation in the study of Lithuanian ethnic group of the Republic of Belarus. The recent works of archaeologists, linguists, folklore students, historians, ethnographers studying different aspects of life of the Lithuanian ethnic group of the Republic of Belarus were considered. Their role in the studying of the origin, ethnic history, culture and language of the Lithuanians of Belarus was defined. The necessity of the general and systematic study of the Lithuanian ethnic group of the republic of Belarus is argued.

Eastern-Slavonic written language in XI-XVII centuries: succession and adoption. pp. 97--100

Summary: The author has making the attempt to determine fundaments and criteria for the differentiation of usually identifying categories such as succession and imitation in the word culture of the reflective and traditional type. Researcher makes a conclusion that the imitation takes place in the traditionalist's culture when the artist attempts to pattern his creative work on works differing from his own creative method. Thus the problem of succession and imitation proportion in the reflective and traditional cultures could be solved only in the context of the creative method theory, not in the poetics.

Small forms in the dramatic theory of the people and school theatres of Belarus in XVI-XVIII centuries. pp. 101--108

Summary: The article is dedicated to the study of literary and artistic qualities of small format plays which make up he part of the Belarusian dramatic art in XVI--XVIII centuries as well as the most important peculiarities of these works functioning in national theatre and the scenic art of this time.

The legend of the Flood in memorials of the aged Belarusian written language. pp. 109--114

Summary: The article is devoted to the linguistic and textological analysis of the legend about Noe in the old Belarusian language memorials of XVI--XVII ages. The existence of two traditions of the canonical text translation represents the separation of the lithurgical space into two opposed spheres Slavia Latina and Slavia Orthodoxa.

The role of the irony in the comic effect creation (on materials of K. Krapiva's plays). pp. 115--120

Summary: The article is dedicated to the irony as one of the traditional means of expressing the comic effect. By use the plays writed by Krapiva. As the basic material the author considers the typical actualizations of the irony: verbal, non-verbal and of the different types). Special attention is paid to the intensification of the comic effect.
