Galvano-plasmic processes in sulfate- and iodidecontaining water media. pp. 12--15.
Summary: Galvano-plasmic (GP) processes in sulfate- and iodide-containing water solutions with electrolyte anodes (St3 steel, VT1-0 titanium alloy, AMg aluminium alloy, Pb-Sn (4%) alloy) and cathodes (C18N9T steel, copper), positioned above the electrolyte surface, have been studied. Using volt-ampere characteristics, zones of stationary electrolysis, intermediate process and stable GP discharge have been determined, depending upon distance between electrodes, their shape and material. A stable GP discharge in 1M Na2S04 for C18N9T steel (cathode) -- VT1-0 titanium (anode) electrode pair occurs, depending upon distance between electrodes, at 80V or higher voltages, while for C18N9T steel (cathode) -- Pb/Pb02 (anode) electrode pair in 0,1M Kl it occurs at 160V or above. The existence of a post-effect showing itself as lasting oxidant activity of treated sulfate solutions, has been established. This effect is caused by synthesis of hydrogen peroxide, ozone and, most probably, metastable radicals.

Colloidal-chemical properties of cationic surfactant mixtures based on di- and polyamines. pp. 16--21.
Summary: Collective behavior of cationic surfactant mixtures based on di- (ODDA) and poly amines (APPA), and quaternary ammonium salts (QAS) at solution/air interface has been studied. It has been shown that for ODDA/QAS mixtures, two kinds of ODDA and QAS micelles coexist in solution in a fairly broad concentration band. These micelles are formed in solution independently of each other, due to surfactant micelle segregation. For APPA/QAS mixtures, synergism of water solution surface tension decrease is caused by QAS association with APPA ions in solution. This should promote emulsification at oil/water interface and improve dispersing properties of two immiscible phases.

Effect of drying temperature on porous structure of magnesium and iron hydroxides. pp. 22--26.
Summary: Adsorption-structural properties of iron and magnesium hydroxides, as well as their adsorption capacity change, depending upon conditions of synthesis and drying, have been studied. It has been shown that degree of structural parameters' change upon drying decreases with increasing the concentration of the starting solution used in synthesis of hydroxides. It has been also established that adsorption capacity of samples decreases linearly with increasing surface tension of intermicellar liquid. Structural changes of samples and their causes have been discussed and explained from the colloidal chemistry viewpoint.

Effect of magnetic field on porous structure of hydroxides during their drying. pp. 26--29.
Summary: Drying of diamagnetic and paramagnetic metal hydroxides has been studied. It has been shown that sorption capacity of hydroxides with paramagnetic ions increases with magnetic field strength while for hydroxides with diamagnetic ones it remains virtually unaffected. The phenomenon has been explained by taking into account the effect of magnetic field on water structure, ion hydration and wettability of solvents. It has been established that sorption capacity depends linearly upon magnetic field strength.

On gel formation in systems based on alkaline silicates. pp. 30--34.
Summary: It has been demonstrated that there is a possibility to predict properties of both combined organosilicate systems and gels obtained from them, based on calculating the solubility parameter for initial reagents. Physico-chemical processes occurring during gel formation, depending on its preparation technology, have been studied by IR spectroscopy. It has been shown that organomineral systems based on liquid glass, acetic acid and glycerol can be used as stock compositions for preparation of stabilized combined systems capable of forming homogeneous durable gels at elevated temperatures.

Summary: Hydrodynamic, molecular and conformational characteristics of lignosulfonic acid (LSA), chitosans (ChT) and polyethy-lenepolyamine (PEPA) have been estimated. It has been concluded that LSA is a randomly branched polymer, ChT is a rigid chain polymer, and PEPA is a linear polymer with very weak intermolecular interaction.

Effect of physical modification on starch properties. pp. 41--45.
Summary: It has been shown that extrusion modification of potato and corn starch, as well as their mixtures, decreases moisture and sulfur dioxide content in them. It has been also established that extrusion treatment of corn starch significantly increases viscosity of its dispersions, as compared to native starch. This viscosity increase diminishes, however, at higher extrusion temperatures.

Criterion for comparative evaluation of intramolecular interactions in organic nonelectrolytes. pp. 46--49.
Summary: Partition of more than twenty organic non-electrolytes has been studied in n-octane - water extraction system. Strong intramolecular interactions in these compounds cause substantial errors when calculating partition constants by traditional additive methods. A new parameter, Dlog Ð, has been introduced as a difference between the experimental partition constant and one calculated by an additive method. It works as a simple and informative criterion for estimation of intramolecular interactions in organic non-electrolyte molecules.

Fluorimetric stydy of methemalbumine with aromatic ligands. pp. 50--58.
Summary: Fluorescent spectra for l-aniline-8-naphtalenesulfonic acid (ANSA) probe complexes with bovine serum albumine (BSA), methemalbumine (4 mM BSA : 8 mÌ hemin) and its associates with aromatic ligands - 2,2,5,7,8-pentamethylchroman-6-ol (PMC), 3,3'5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), and ortho-phenylenediamine (PDA) in buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 5% of DMF, 0.5% of DMSO and 5% of ethanol. From fluorescence relative intensity (at its maximum of 480 nm) -– ANSA concentration relationships, linearized in Benesi-Hildelbrandt or Scatchard coordinates, association constants Ka for ANSA-BSA, ANSA-methemalbumin (and its complexes), as well as number-average amount n of ANSA molecules bound with biopolymers. Ka values decrease from 2,61·104 -- 1,60·104 Ì-1 Mr1 in the series of methemalbumine complexes in the following order: ÀÍÑ>ÐÌÑ+ÀÍÑ>ÒÌÁ+ÀÍÑ>ÔÄÀ+ÀÍÑ, and n values increase in the same series from 1.16 to 1.50. ANSA and aromatic ligands compete for binding to methemalbumin hydrophobic sites, the fact that has been confirmed by ANSA inhibiting effect on TMB and PDA oxidation in methemalbumin- Í202 "pseudoperoxidase" system.

Polymorphism of BDKRB2 andNOS3 genes vs.human physical efficiency. pp. 92--96.
Summary: Association of+9/-9 BDKRB2 gene and a/b NOS3 gene polymorphism with physical capacity of humans has been studied. Groups of 54 professional sportsmen and 98 non-sportsmen (control group) have been genotyped. It has been shown that -9/-9 genotype by BDKRB2 and bb genotype by NOS3 occur, with authentic statistical significance, more often in the sportsmen group than in the control group. No aa genotypes by NOS3 in the sportsmen group have been found. On this basis, optimal genotypes for heightened exercise tolerance and genotypes critically unsuitable for physical training have been found.
