The contest was established in 2010 in order to form a holistic positive image of science, increase its credibility, attract public attention to the achievements of Belarusian scientists, present relevant information on developments carried out in the interests of the socio-economic development of the country, stimulate creative and professional activity of both journalists and non-professional science popularizers. The contest is held annually to the Day of Belarusian science. Three prizes are awarded in the following nominations:
- the best publication;
- the best plot (program) on radio and television;
- the best publication in the popular science publication;
- the best presentation of achievements of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on the Internet.
Prizes are awarded to individuals - professional journalists and freelance authors of state and non-state media, both individually and a group of authors consisting of no more than three people. No more than five works from one author published for the year are nominated for the contest.
The right to nominate works for participation in the contest has been given to the editorial boards of the media who have submitted the work to be put forward, as well as to the author in self-nomination. The winners of the contest are awarded a diploma and a cash reward in the amount of 15
