Quantum chemistry modeling of lead, nickel and calcium sorption by grafted co-polymer of polyacrylic acid and polypropylene. pp. 10--14
Summary: Non-empirical SCF MO LCAO calculations for structures of lead, nickel and calcium complexes modeling a grafted polypro-pylene-polyacrylic acid co-polymer, have been performed. It has been shown that bond strength of cations with polyanion increases in Ca2+ < Ni2+ < Pb2+ series and corresponds to covalency degree of the bond between metal and oxygen in the functional group. Irregularities in ion exchanger carbon chain affect substantially its sorption properties.

Diffusion and convective electrolyte transport through modified ultrafiltration membranes. pp. 15--20
Summary: Diffusion and convective transport of sodium chloride solutions through ultrafiltration aromatic polyamide/polysulfone membranes with additional selective layers, have been studied. Differences in retention and diffusion permeability, and their relationship with initial membrane matrix material have been determined. Experimental results have been interpreted in terms of the theory describing electric potential difference in bilayer system for different membrane orientation toward salt flow.

Iron containing fibrous sorbent for removal of arsenate and arsenite ions from drinking water. pp. 21--29
Summary: Iron containing fibrous sorbent has been prepared from industrial polyacrylonitrile Nitron C fiber. The sorbent contains weak basic groups and is impregnated with 0.9--1.5 mmol/g of iron as hydroxyoxide. At high flow speed corresponding to sorbent-solution contact time of 40 s, it purifies up to 9500 or 2650 filtering bed volumes of water containing 50 µg/dm3 of As (III) or As (V), respectively.

Effect of alcohol nature on solubility and crystallization of L-proline. pp. 30--33
Summary: Temperature and concentration dependence of L-Pro solubility in water-alcohol system with varied alcohol concentration has been studied. It has beed shown that alcohol addition causes sharp drop in proline solubility. It has been demonstrated that the number of hydroxy1 groups in the alcohol molecule affects the solubility as well. It has been found that the best yield of crystalline proline can be achieved using butyl alcohol.

Effect of dope flow rate on polisulfone capillary membrane permeability. pp. 34--38
Summary: The effect of dope flow rate on the structure and properties of capillary polysulfone ultrafiltration membranes has been investigated. It has been shown that increasing the dope flow rate speeds up hollow fiber spinning, increases wall thickness of hollow fibers and decreases the jet draft. It has been also shown that two latter factors reduce the water permeability of membrane.

Extraction of L-proline with di-(2-ethylhexyl)phoshporic acid. pp. 45--49
Summary: Extraction of L-Pro from water by di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (HP), binary extractant (HP + dinonyl naphthalene sulfonic acid (HD)) and binary extractant with addition of oleic acid solution in lower hydrocarbons and octanol, has been studied. It has been found that introduction of oleic acid into HP phase, as well as using the binary extractant, considerably improves L-Pro extraction. The synergism for L-Pro extraction by binary extractants and extractants containing oleic acid, has been calculated, and it has been shown that it decreases in the following series: Rsyn (HP+oleic acid/hydrocarbons) > Rsyn (HP+HD/hydrocarbons) > Rsyn (HP+HD+oleic acid/hydrocarbons) > Rsyn (HP+HD/octanol) > Rsyn (HD+oleic acid/hydrocarbons).

Extraction of erythromycin with sulfoextractant. pp. 50--53
Summary: Extraction of erythromycin with Na-form of dinonyl naphthalene sulfonic acid in wide pH range has been studied. It has been shown that nonanol addition makes for the best efficiency of extraction, producing synergetic extraction effect, which is the most pronounced for cationic form of erythromycin. It has been also shown that selectivity factor logarithm decreases with increasing of erythromycine equivalent part in the extractant phase.

Hystidine interaction with dinonyl naphthalene sulfonic acid. pp. 54--57
Summary: Interaction of hystidine with dinonyl naphthalene sulfonic acid in octane has been studied. It has been shown that the best extraction is attained in acidic pH range, where hystidine exists in the form of mono- and divalent cations. Comparison of the results obtained with those for lysine shows that the nature of the aminoacid lateral chain has strong effect upon its extractability.

Effect of organic dye structure upon dyed poly vinyl alcohol films' heat conduction. pp. 58--68
Summary: The effect of organic dyes on heat conduction of axially oriented (poly)vinyl alcohol films has been studied. It has been concluded that this effect is determined by physical structure of dye molecules and can be explained in terms of molecular packing change for the structural elements of polymer.
