Heat capacity, thermal expansion and electrical conductivity of Nd1-xTmxBa2Cu3O7-d cuprates solid solutions. pp. 5--9

Summary: Heat capacity, thermal expansion and electrical conductivity of Nd1-xTmxBa2Cu3O7-d solid solutions have been investigated at 300-1100 K. Anomalies of thermophysical properties of the cuprates attributed to a rearrangement of their oxygen sublattice were observed at 500-600 and 700-900 K. It was found that activation energy of electrical conductivity for Nd1-xTmxBa2Cu3O7-d increases monotonously with increasing d.

Carbon preparation by template synthesis. pp. 22--26

Summary: The infuence of modifying salt solution on carbon porous structure in template low-temperature synthesis of carbon adsorbents on the basis of wood sawdust in the presence of activating additives, such as ZnCl2 or acetone, and freezing has been investigated. Positive effect of aforementioned additives to modifying solution on cellulose crystalline structure and development of carbon structural parameters has been shown. An increase of salt concentration in modifying solution was found to enhance sorption capacity and specifc surface of obtained carbon adsorbents. An explanation of the results is proposed.

Aggregate stability and electrophoretic behaviour of ultradispersed b-sialon hydrosols. pp. 27--30

Summary: Sedimentation and microelectrophoresis methods were applied to study aggregate and sedimentation stability of dispersed systems "hydrosoluion of surfactant - b-sialon". It has been found that the most stable system is "solution of cationic surfactant - b-sialon". Positively charged surface of b-sialon changes its sign in the aqueous media, the absolute value of x-potential decreases. It is shown that solvatation and electrostatics are the main stability factors of the dispersed system.

Chemical exergy of rape biomass. pp. 37--40

Summary: The temperature dependencies of heat capacity for samples of seeds and straw of the rape in the range 80--370 K were measured. An isoperibol calorimeter equipped with a static bomb and an isothermal water jacket was used for measurements of the energies of combustion of the components of the rape biomass. The entropies at 80 K of the components were evaluated with the use of Kelly -- Parks -- Huffman extrapolation. Standard chemical exergies of straw and seeds of the rape were designed from the data obtained. It is shown that the gain of exergy makes ~ 170900 MJ/ga in one cycle of manufacture of the rape biomass that corresponds to ~ 4250 kg of diesel fuel.

Electrodeposition of atomic layers of cadmium on polycrystalline tellurium. pp. 41--45

Summary: The process of cadmium cathodic reduction from acid sulfate solutions (0.05 M CdSO4 + 0.1 M H2SO4) on polycrystalline Te-electrodes at more positive potentials than the equilibrium ECd2+/Cd0 potential (underpotential deposition -- UPD) has been investigated. Cadmium atomic layers generated by UPD interact with Te, diffuse into Te volume and form nanosized structures CdTenano. It results in changing from 2D structure to CdTe 3D nanostructures. CdTenano/Te heterostructure in contrast to Òå possesses photoelectrochemical activity -- generates cathodic photocurrent. Electrode sensibilization is connected with light absorbtion by CdTe which photoelectrons possess high reducing ability including Cd2+ cations reduction.

Summary: Catalytic systems with Fe-EDTA complexes fixed on a fibrous anionite and an inert fibrous support have been obtained and tested in the reaction of hydrogen sulfide oxidation. Samples of the catalyst on the basis of anionite fibers were found to be more effective as a result of an increase of catalytic system stability due to inhibition of oxidative destruction of active complex by anionite's functional groups.

Reduction of silver and copper iodide nanoparticles in aqueous solutions. pp. 61--66 The processes of Ag, Cu and Ag-Cu nanoparticles formation by reduction of respective iodide colloids have been studied. Depending on precursor solubility, the reduction was found to proceed through the solid phase (for AgI), through solution (for CuI) or by a mixed way (for AgI-CuI solid solution). Silver and copper nanoparticles were shown to form preferably upon reduction of AgI-CuI colloids; bimetallic Ag-Cu nanoparticles are less likely to form.

Effect of herbicide tralkoxydime on peroxidase activity in water-organic and reversed-micellar media. pp. 82--87

Summary: The tralkoxydime effect on catalytic activity of horseradish peroxidase has been studied in oxidation of tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and o-phenylenediamine (PDA) in water-organic and reversed-micellar media. In buffered solutions containing 5--10% of DMFA, tralkoxydime activates the peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation of TMB and PDA. The activation has a non-competitive character in the case of PDA (1-5 mM of tralkoxydime), TMB (4--7 mM) and hydrogen peroxide (1--7 mM). At the TMB oxidation in the presence of 1--4 mM of tralkoxydime, the activation is of a mixed type. In buffered solutions in the presence of surfactants of different nature, the activating effect of tralkoxydime on TMB oxidation decreased. In the reversed micelles of Aerosol OT in heptane, tralkoxydime weakly effects the peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation of TMB and PDA.

NMR spectral characteristics of steroid derivatives with different orientation of C-22 substituent in the side chain. pp. 88--93

Summary: Synthesis and detailed NMR investigation of several 22-hydroxysteroids with 22a- and 22b-orientation of hydroxyl group are described. It is shown that, for a pair of isomers, C-23 resonance of 22a-isomer in 13C NMR spectra appears at lower felds than one of 22b-isomer. The rule is valid for 22-monosubstituted and for a number of polysubstituted steroids and can be used for steroid side chain structure elucidation.

Potassium chloride particles interaction in the process of granulation. pp. 99--104 The character of potassium chloride particles interaction in the process of granulation depends on initial state of the powder (wetness, dispersity, hydrophobicity) and additive type. Regulating wetness and dispersity of potassium chloride particles, using composite polymeric and surfactant additives for hydrophobic powders allows to control water distribution in the mass and plastic resistibility of the powder, optimize the parameters of the granulation process, and increase its efficiency.

Features of coagulation of modified tall rosin hydrodispersion by cationic polyelectrolytes. pp. 109--112

Summary: The effect of some cationic polyelectrolytes on coagulation kinetics of modified colophony is higher than that of aluminum sulfate. Destabilization of colophony particles apparently occurs because of reducing particles charge in the presence of the polyelectrolytes and through particle agglomeration due to bridging with polymer macrocations. The strong polyelectolytes are found to be the most effective ones.
