Adenylate cyclase activity in green leaves of oats. pp. 35--37

Summary: Activity of adenylate cyclase in different cell fractions obtained from green leaves was studied. The adenylate cyclase activity modulated by NaF was observed in all cell fractions. Crude membrane pool has shown the highest level of the adenylate cyclase activity. These results suggest that the adenylate cyclase system exists in higher plants and cAMP can be a messenger in transduction of intracellular signals.

Humate effect on protective response display by barley plants to Helminthosporium teres Sass. pp. 42--46

Summary: Presowing incrustation of barley seeds by humates increases viability of vegetative plants that results In their ability to reduce affection of leaves by Helminthosporium teres Sacc. during the first three phases of ontogenesis. Hydro- and oxyhumates are to be regarded as the most effective ones. Stimulation of RNA and protein synthesis is supposed to predetermine plant resistance.

Plant oil effect on organism antioxidant protection of animals being in the radiocontaminated zone. pp. 46--50

Summary: Inclusion of plant oils in ration of rates (in particular exposed to ionizing radiation) reduces their antioxidant (AO) status in spite of an increase in the tocopherol content and a rise in the beta-carotene level in animal liver. An opposite effect is achieved by using flax oil with vitamins of AO-effect (the level of lipid peroxidation products is reduced, catalase activity is normalized, the content of nonenzymatic AO is sharply increased) that undoubtedly favours an oncrease in radioresistance of mammal organism.

Summary: Epibrassinolide (epiBr) spraying (10-7 %) influence on intensity of synthesis and the polypeptide composition of freely soluble proteins was studied in euploid and two DT-lines of Chinese Spring wheat differing in their reaction to epiBr. Epibrassinolide effect was shown to depend on genotype and the time of growth regulator action. EpiBr raises the rate of protein synthesis and changes the hing- and lowmolecular polypeptide range of these proteins in the lines tested.

Summary: Antioxidant system activation was shown to take place at early terms after chronic gamma-irradiation with 0.25; 0.5 and 1 Gy doses, then It was exhaused that resulted in accumulation of lipid peroxidation products in blood. 0.1 Gy irradiation didn't stimulate protective forces of organism at early terms and was accompanied by reduction in antioxidant system activity and rise in the rate of lipid peroxidation process.

Thiamine deficiency in organism as a predisposition and a consequenct of an increased alcohol consumption. pp. 75--79

Summary: Deficiency of thiamine (Th) induced by administration of its antagonist, oxythiamine, was shown to enhance alcohol preference in rats. Inhibition of the marker thiamine-dependent enzyme, transketolase, in particular in ethanol preferring inbred animals was observed in blood, liver and brain of nonpedigree rats on 1--30 days following chronic (6 months) ethanol consumption (15% solution as a single source of drink). In rats with genetically high voluntary alcohol consumption (AA line) the Th status of tissues was much poorer as compared to animals with inborn low alcohol consumption (ANA line). The results demonstrate that Th deficiency can be both predisposition and consequence of chronic alcohol consumption and indicate the expedience of using Th for prevention of alcoholism and its complications.

GABA ergic components of 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroisoquinoline action in brain. pp. 79--82

Summary: The data obtained showed that uptake of labelled GABA by synaptosomes of the basal ganglia and its release from the synaptosomes of the hemispheres increased as a result of the intraventricular injection of the 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (THQ). But on adding THQ in vitro inhibition of the uptake and release of labelled GABA in the synaptosomes of the basal ganglia and hemispheres of the rats from the general population was revealed. The same effect on the GABA uptake was observed in the animals preferring ethanol, whereas no significant changes were observed in the rats preferring water.

Summary: Pronounced disorders of ultrastructure and a decrese in mitochondria, crists, area correlation of mitochondria and miofibrils, energetic coefficient of mitochondria were observed under combined stress. Constant magnetic field impact on thyroid gland prevented the decrease in electronogram indices caused by irradiation and immobilization stress. These data confirm the protective role of magnetic activation in thyroid gland under combined stress.

Summary: Histochemical and submicroscopic signs of pyrogenal-induced changes in the submucosal plexus and in the ileac objects innervated by it were determined. Injection of pyrogenal to intact animals and, especially, combination of pyrogenal and ileocolopexy increased the amount of catecholamines in nerve fibers of the terminal ileum of the cat. Ultrastructural studies revealed an increase in the number of catecholamine-containing vesicles in nerve fibers and terminals of the submucosal plexus of this gut segment.

Peculiarities of temperature dependence of blood rheological properties under low rates of shift. pp. 114--116

Summary: Rheological measurements of undiluted blood, anticougulated with glugitsir, are presented. The blood was sampled from healthy human subjects and measurements were made at shear rates from 0.5 to 5 s-1 in the temperature range from 30 to 34 °C. A new Couette-type viscosimeter has been designed to measure the flow behavior of the blood. The outer cylinder of this device is driven by a step motor with the result that the deformation is given by a present step-by-step function. Thus, this regime of deformation of blood is similar to the blood circulating conditions "in vivo". It has been found experimentally, that the flow curves of the blood divide into three temperature regions with different values of the activation energy of the viscous flow.
